There were some nice colors near the horizon this morning, but this big cloud formation was the main attraction. The only way to take it all in was with a panoramic. This one was composed of three images stitched together. Also, it was the chilliest morning in a while…I wore jeans and a long sleeve t shirt but when I got out there I wished I hadn’t left my hoodie at home.

An interesting scene up at the waterfront this morning. While the lower-hanging clouds remained mostly dark, the upper layer of clouds lit up in gorgeous color above my head. A fisheye lens was a necessity to capture this entire scene. I carry my fisheye with me in my bag almost every morning, but I rarely use it. Moments like this make it worth it to be prepared.

It was a great day for a morning stroll along the waterfront. At first I saw a faint pink glow among the heavy clouds, and I thought maybe that would be the most color I would see. But it continued to grow and get brighter and brighter, so I knew it was time to set up and start shooting. The peak of its intensity lasted for less than one minute before it started to fade away.
