The second coming.
People ask me all the time about the best time to watch or photograph the sunrise. There is no simple answer, because the sky behaves differently each day, and the sun rises at a slightly different time each morning. In general, the best colors in the sky could usually be seen around 15-25 minutes before the actual sunrise time. (Today’s sunrise was at 5:42am). Then the colors fade. But for the past few weeks there has been enough haze and clouds for there to be second burst of color around 10-15 minutes after the actual sunrise time. I’ve been calling this phenomenon “the second coming”.
Usually the second coming is a nice encore but not quite as colorful as the earlier splash of color. But on some mornings, such as today, conditions are just right for it to be even better than the opening act.
