Today was the 100th day in a row that I’ve photographed the sunrise!! What an amazing feeling.

Ironically, there was no sun in sight on this rainy morning. But perhaps it was a fitting scene to celebrate the milestone because it represents the challenges I’ve faced over the past 100 days. I’ve battled external obstacles such as rain, snow, and bitter cold, as well as internal challenges such as fatigue, discouragement, doubt, and lack of motivation. And I have prevailed.

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting my mission, and I look forward to what’s to come.

The early bird catches the worm. Robins are a sure sign of spring, but it sure hasn’t felt much like spring lately.

I’m very much looking forward to the days when I no longer have to get all bundled up with a hat, gloves, fleece, and coat just to go outside and take my sunrise photos every morning.

This morning was cloudy, foggy, and cold. Feeling tired and discouraged, I found my only solace in this little guy.

It was another cloudy morning, so I decided to head over to the skate park to try to re-create a shot I took last week on April 3rd that ended up being an outtake. In my opinion, the original is still far superior–the sky and the lighting were perfect and the damp ground made some nice reflections, which was what caught my eye in the first place. The photo from this morning, on the other hand, looks a bit more dull and tired (yet perhaps fitting for my mood this morning). It just goes to show, you can’t force art, you have to just let it happen.

I like photographing old, historic landmarks, partially for their rustic appeal, and partially out of respect and appreciation for what they represent. This waterfront used to be a working shipyard, before the area gave way to factories and, eventually, luxury condos. Some of the remnants of the old shipyard can still be found here, and I hope they remain for a long time because they add a lot of character to the waterfront.

In honor of baseball’s opening day, I thought it would be a good idea to head over to the ballpark for this morning’s sunrise photo. My hometown, Hoboken, is the birthplace of baseball. I’ve taken a few of my photos at Elysian Fields, which was the site of the first ever baseball game. The field you see here is the Hoboken Little League Field at Stevens Park, which is in a great location right across the street from the water. Every year, this ballpark is the site of a re-enactment of the historic first baseball game, complete with old uniforms and equipment. The original site, Elysian Fields, is no longer a baseball field but is now a small park, also near the water.
