Things don’t always go according to plan. As I was walking down to the location I had in mind for this morning’s shoot, I noticed a splash of pink light beginning to emerge behind the Empire State Building. Knowing that the sky could pop any minute, I quickly looked for the nearest spot that would be the most interesting, and settled on this pier. I set everything up and started shooting. It’s a good thing I did, because the sky was soon flooded with color, pink clouds illuminating in spots where there only appeared to be clear sky just moments before. The greatest intensity lasted for only about three minutes. All while a crescent moon smiled down from above.
The past several days have produced some amazing sunrises, and times like this make me happy that I decided to embark on this project of photographing the sunrise every day.
