Dark clouds were rushing over the city this morning. The clouds were coming from east to west over my head, probably being pushed by the strong eastern wind. There was a bright pink patch of sky at the northern horizon, so I thought there might be a chance the whole sky would light up, but it never did. Most of the clouds remained dark gray, but there were a few glimmers of pink in the swirling clouds above which made for quite a scene.
Saturday, June 6, 2015 (Day 157)
Anniversary. My wife and I were married six years ago today. June of 2009 was similar to the June we’ve been experiencing this year so far, with every day being cloudy or rainy. I’ll never forget the morning of my wedding day…I was sitting on the beach with my brother in a light drizzle, somewhat disappointed by the weather, and finally around noon I just accepted it and went inside to take a shower. When I got out of the shower I looked outside and to my amazement the rain was gone and the sun was out, and it stayed that way for the rest of the day.
Today, it was pouring as I was out shooting, and I got soaked. But the rain stopped on my way home, and today seems to be shaping up to be similar to that day I remember six years ago.
Sunday, May 17, 2015 (Day 137)
Today was the strangest morning I’ve experienced in a while.
There was a dense fog….so dense that the city skyline was nowhere in sight. The scene started out completely blue, and I was taking some photos of this pier, which I thought came out pretty good.
I was about to head back inside when I noticed a faint yet slowly intensifying spot of light in the sky where there appeared to be a small break in the clouds, which looked kind of eerie through the fog. I decided to stick around to see what would happen. The break in the clouds started to widen. And all of a sudden, the edges of those clouds started to glow pink through misty haze, and the whole atmosphere around me turned pink. I don’t think I’ve ever seen pink fog before, but here it is.
Monday, May 11, 2015 (Day 131)
Somehow these cherry blossoms look just as good scattered on the ground as they did In the trees. Nothing lasts forever. But, in this case, change is a welcome thing. At 72 degrees and extremely humid this morning, I got the feeling that our short-lived spring is beginning to give way to summer.
Since it was another foggy scene up at the waterfront, I decided to do something a little different and get up close with these cherry blossoms blanketing the grass in the park.
And yes, the foggy sunrise is in the background.
Tuesday, May 5, 2015 (Day 125)
I’ve been waiting for just the right background sky for this shot. Most days there is either not enough haze to get very much color, or there is too much going on in the sky (in which cases I would use a wider angle).
This morning there was a thick haze in the sky along with these glowing pink clouds hanging near the horizon. It was the perfect opportunity to zoom in and capture this scene.
The idea for this photo came from one of my Instagram followers who loves the Chrysler Building.
