I was up a little earlier than usual this morning, so I took advantage of the extra time I had and grabbed an uber down to Jersey City. One of my Instagram followers recommended this location to me, so I wanted to go check it out.

For this shot I tried to isolate downtown NYC to make it look like its own little island. The rising sun glowed orange through streaks of dark clouds. It was a very calm and tranquil scene, and I felt a long exposure would capture the essence of what it felt like to be there at that moment.

I’m really glad I didn’t hesitate and seized the opportunity to make this trip. I arrived on the scene just at the right time, and if I would have waited any longer to decide, I would have missed it.
