Another snowy scene at dawn this morning. A barely transparent snowy haze shrouded the city skyline. The tire tracks in the snow formed somewhat of a loop, similar to the loop we are in with this weather. The sun will have to wait for another day.

Tuesday, February 10, 2015 (Day 41)
I lose my sense of time when I’m out there shooting by myself. Photography, especially in the serenity and stillness of the dawn, can be a meditative and even therapeutic experience. The black and white seems to best convey this frame of mind, especially on a cloudy morning.
There hasn’t been much sun lately, with six out of the last seven days being completely overcast.
This morning, I planned to go outside and just capture a quick photo, but after what felt like just a little while, I looked at my watch saw 30 minutes had passed. I knew I should probably get back home, even though I could have stayed out much longer.
Sunday, February 8, 2015 (Day 39)
A family of geese accompanied me this morning to watch the sunrise from this icy cove. At 34 degrees, it was considerably warmer than most other mornings so far this year.
I’ve photographed this spot several times recently, but today I just couldn’t pass it up because seeing all this ice in the Hudson River is such a rare occurrence. It was nice to have the geese around too.
Saturday, February 7, 2015 (Day 38)
Here is the Hudson River this morning. Or is it the Arctic Ocean?
I came across this scene by accident. I had just finished my morning’s shoot, or so I thought, a few minutes prior. I wanted to pick up some coffee on my way home, but the coffee shop didn’t open for a little while longer, so I decided to go exploring in the meantime. That’s when I discovered these huge chunks of ice covering a large section of the river at the northernmost end of town. This rare scene easily beat the photos I had made earlier.
