A dramatic cloud cover shrouded the sunrise this morning. I love photographing a sky that looks like this. Also, you can see they left the spire on the Empire State Building all lit up, which is a rare occurrence.
The sun rises the earliest this time of year (today was 5:25am), and getting up so early every day (around 4:35am) has been wearing on me, especially after nights when the baby keeps us up. Luckily, the sunrise time will only get one minute earlier in the next couple of weeks before it starts moving in the other direction. The bad news is, this time of year the sunrise times don’t change much from day to day, so it’s going to be almost a month before I see a sunrise later than 5:30am.

Thursday, June 4, 2015 (Day 155)
Tuesday, June 2, 2015 (Day 153)
(Tuesday, June 2nd) Bleacher seats. I think tennis is rained out for today.
It was 50 degrees when I went out this morning, so I had to layer up. That alone wouldn’t have been so bad, except it started to rain as soon as I got to my shooting location, and the wind was unrelenting. So I kept getting sprayed with rain from the strong and constant gusts of wind. Of course the wind was blowing from the direction in which I was shooting, so I was getting pelted in the face (and the lens). I kept attempting to wipe off the front of my lens but it proved futile. That’s ok, because I think the blurry raindrops on my lens in a photo like this help to convey the experience of shooting it.
Friday, May 22, 2015 (Day 142)
If it is possible to experience both light and darkness at the same time, that’s what it seemed like this morning.
I was walking along the waterfront with the intention of going to a particular spot downtown. As I was walking, I came to this location and saw the interesting cloud formations. I paused for a moment and took a couple of images, thinking it would be good insurance just in case the clouds dissipated as I as the morning progressed. And I’m glad I did because those clouds continued to roll eastward away from the city and sink further and further out of sight. I only took two photos this morning and this was one of them.
