A dramatic cloud cover shrouded the sunrise this morning. I love photographing a sky that looks like this. Also, you can see they left the spire on the Empire State Building all lit up, which is a rare occurrence.
The sun rises the earliest this time of year (today was 5:25am), and getting up so early every day (around 4:35am) has been wearing on me, especially after nights when the baby keeps us up. Luckily, the sunrise time will only get one minute earlier in the next couple of weeks before it starts moving in the other direction. The bad news is, this time of year the sunrise times don’t change much from day to day, so it’s going to be almost a month before I see a sunrise later than 5:30am.

Sunday, May 10, 2015 (Day 130)
With the exception of a few faint lights, the city skyline was completely obscured by fog this morning. For the past three days, the fog has become more and more dense each day.
Today, the sound of fog horns in the distance could be heard every minute or so. Fish were jumping out of the water every couple of seconds. A number of fishermen were trying their luck with their poles leaning against the rail. This lone buoy, with its light blinking in the eerie blue haze, best conveyed the feeling of isolation and tranquility of the scene.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there–I hope you have a great day.
Saturday, May 9, 2015 (Day 129)
It was another foggy morning, and this time it was dense enough to chop off the tops of the taller buildings. I’ve been waiting for the right opportunity to photograph this pier all lit up, and this morning may have been it.
There was a time, not long ago, when the thought of being up this early on a Saturday would have never crossed my mind. But getting up earlier to photograph the sunrise every morning has in many ways opened up a whole new world to me.
Friday, April 17, 2015 (Day 107)
I managed to find what is believed to be the last remaining parking spot in Hoboken, if anyone needs it.
It was a rainy morning, but you just have to make the most of what life throws your way.
Recently, I was telling a friend about how I’ve been taking a photo of the sunrise every morning, and one of the things I explained to him is that it allows me to start each day with a sense of accomplishment. No matter what else happens on a given day, I know I already accomplished something.
