I saw it was another foggy morning when I woke up and looked out my window, and this was exciting after the experience I had yesterday (which resulted in my photo being on the news). Knowing what to expect, I was able to time it perfectly to get to my shooting location at just as the clouds were starting to turn pink through the fog, while a ghostly skyline faded in and out of existence.
Thursday, November 5, 2015 (Day 309)
It was a foggy morning, to the point where the city skyline was almost completely invisible.
I took a few shots of somewhat eerie scenes that accentuated the fog, and I was happy with them.
But then I started to see a few tiny breaks in the clouds overhead.
After more than 10 months of photographing the sunrise every day, I can usually sense when something incredible is going to happen, and this was one of those times.
So I waited a little while. And then it happened.
Wednesday, November 4, 2015 (Day 308)
It was another clear morning, so I decided to take a stroll through the Stevens campus to get some of the best views in town. I think fall may be my favorite time of year on this campus.
I took a lot of photos all over the campus, but I loved the way the sun came through the trees in the one you see here.
Normally I try to avoid lens flare in my photos, but I think it actually works in this one. (though I have other similar shots without the lens flare…it’s just a matter of preference)
Tuesday, November 3, 2015 (Day 307)
Sometimes it’s better to stop trying so hard and let things happen on their own.
This morning’s sky was perfectly clear, which can be challenging to photograph. I walked along the waterfront and captured a few different shots, none of which were more than mildly interesting. Eventually I resigned myself to the feeling that I wasn’t going to get any better shots than what I already had.
On the walk home, I passed through this area and noticed the gorgeously colored leaves. I shot a series of photos all around this area, and as the sun came up and began to shine through the autumn leaves, I knew my morning had redeemed itself.
Monday, November 2, 2015 (Day 306)
Baseball season is now officially over, so I decided to go back to where it all began. Here I am standing on the site of the first baseball game ever played.
I stood there for a while watching a sky that was dominated by blue and white, with no other colors.
I waited a little while and finally as the sun continued to rise I saw some orange trying to fight its way through, but it was mostly suppressed and never became more than just a faint glimmer or pale orange light.
