Hi, my name is Anthony and I took a photo of the sunrise every morning for a year.
Ever since I was young, I’ve always been interested in photography. I always loved taking photos at the zoo, aquarium, and class trips as a was growing up. Everything changed when I decided to study abroad in Australia for a semester during college and my parents bought me my first “real” camera, a Canon Rebel 2000 SLR film camera, right before I left. While in Australia, I took photographs of amazing landscapes and, although I didn’t know much beyond the “auto” mode on my camera at the time, began to see the potential of what was possible with photography. I quickly joined the photography club at the University of Melbourne and learned about darkroom techniques, and at that point I began to view photography as more of a craft rather than just an inborn skill.
Fast forward to late 2014, and I was trying to figure out a way to wake up earlier on a daily basis and also make incremental changes in my life overall. I wanted to do it in a way that was interesting and would help me grow in some way. So, I turned to something I always loved, photography, and decided that I would photograph the sunrise every morning and post it online. This seemed like the perfect thing for me to do, because it combined several of my interests and had the potential to benefit me in so many ways. And thus, CaptureTheSunrise was born, more as a lifestyle experiment than anything, but now it has also become a project in photography.
I consider myself more of an entrepreneur than a photographer. I’ve started a few of my own businesses and have been involved in a few startups. Currently, I have my own marketing consulting business where I help small businesses and startups grow their online presence, which also includes photographing local businesses for use on websites and social media. I also have a regular day job at a big company. I hold a BS in Finance from The College of New Jersey and an MBA in Marketing from Rutgers Business School.
And now I’ve taken a photo of the sunrise every day of 2015.
