Sometimes I walk past this skate park and there is this one guy practicing by himself. At 6:00 in the morning. That’s the kind of attitude it takes if you want to succeed.
But you have to take it one step at a time.
People tell me all the time that they would like to “do something”–meaning they want to get involved in some interesting project for themselves, but they are often stuck and don’t know where to start.
If that’s you, think about why you want to do something in the first place. Often the answer will be because you want to change something about your life, so figure out what will help you make that change. Then figure out what it is you enjoy and just go with it. Find a way to fit what you enjoy into what you want to accomplish.
You don’t need much of a long-term plan. Just tell yourself you are gong try something for 30 days or even just a week. That’s not a huge commitment to make, and when it’s over you can decide to keep going or try something else. That’s how I got stated with my sunrise photography. I tried it for a week, and then extended it to 30 days, and here we are. Even if you just try something for one day, that is better than not trying at all and wondering what it would be like.
