Do Extraordinary Things
Halloween.
I went to the park this morning and saw an orange glow from the morning’s first light. I found a spot with some twisted and bare trees and decided to go for an eerie silhouette for today.
At 7:27am, this morning’s sunrise was actually the latest of the year, because tonight we turn the clocks back. It will be about a month before the sun rises after 7am again.
I was walking around the Stevens campus this morning and just as I got close to this lookout point I saw a cruise ship right there. I hurried up to this spot and quickly set up and fired this shot. It was my first of the morning.
I’m not sure who had the better view–them, or me.
Another cruise ship came past a few minutes later, but the soft morning light was better for this one.
Look around. There are amazing things happening everywhere around you.
It was a really interesting morning. When I woke up, it was completely overcast. By the time I got outside, the clouds had pushed mostly east and it was bright blue sky above me with dark clouds near the horizon. As the sun began to rise, more clouds quickly rolled in.
I hadn’t done a black and white in a while, so I thought this might be s good opportunity. There wasn’t much color in the sky except for a brief period where some orange light shone through, and although that was great to see,these clouds and this scene were just too magnificent to pass up presenting them in black and white.
Although it was a cloudy morning, there were still some fantastic colors in the sky during blue hour.
The first thing that struck me was the way the lights of midtown illuminated the haze and clouds above it. Then, after a few minutes, the slightest of pink tones began to appear near the horizon, while blotches of glowing blue decorated the sky in the spaces where the cloud cover was thin.
Day 300!
I can’t believe how far this has come.
