(Thursday, June 11,2015) A new perspective. Shooting along the same stretch of waterfront every day forces me to find new ways to look at things. The light from this morning’s sunrise was diffused by a hazy sky, creating a faint orange glow. It was nice to watch, but in terms of making a photograph, I knew I wanted something more. This row of benches provided just what I was looking for.

Tuesday, June 9, 2015 (Day 160)
A dramatic cloud cover shrouded the sunrise this morning. I love photographing a sky that looks like this. Also, you can see they left the spire on the Empire State Building all lit up, which is a rare occurrence.
The sun rises the earliest this time of year (today was 5:25am), and getting up so early every day (around 4:35am) has been wearing on me, especially after nights when the baby keeps us up. Luckily, the sunrise time will only get one minute earlier in the next couple of weeks before it starts moving in the other direction. The bad news is, this time of year the sunrise times don’t change much from day to day, so it’s going to be almost a month before I see a sunrise later than 5:30am.

Sunday, June 7, 2015 (Day 158)
Some great colors could be seen looking north up the Hudson River this morning. I went out to the end of a pier to get the best viewing angle. After a few minutes of shooting, I started to realize that my single images weren’t doing the scene justice, and that it would be better captured with a panoramic. The end result better emphasized the horizon, the skyline, and the waterfront in a way that more accurately describes my experience this morning.
Saturday, June 6, 2015 (Day 157)
Anniversary. My wife and I were married six years ago today. June of 2009 was similar to the June we’ve been experiencing this year so far, with every day being cloudy or rainy. I’ll never forget the morning of my wedding day…I was sitting on the beach with my brother in a light drizzle, somewhat disappointed by the weather, and finally around noon I just accepted it and went inside to take a shower. When I got out of the shower I looked outside and to my amazement the rain was gone and the sun was out, and it stayed that way for the rest of the day.
Today, it was pouring as I was out shooting, and I got soaked. But the rain stopped on my way home, and today seems to be shaping up to be similar to that day I remember six years ago.
