A blue morning at the terminal. This morning wasn’t quite the light show we experienced yesterday, but the overcast sky made a nice backdrop for this scene by the terminal at dawn.

Friday, May 15, 2015 (Day 135)
It’s been a while since we’ve seen a sunrise like this.
Shooting the sunrise every morning is my own meditative experience, and it can be a thrill at the same time. As I see a scene like this beginning to develop, with the clouds starting to glow prior to an upcoming explosion of light, my anticipation builds. And then the moment arrives. The intensity of the colors heighten and my blood begins to rush. I know this is my chance. I hear a rumbling sound in my ears like the sound of a passing freight train, and everything around me disappears. I shoot my photos in a feverish rush of adrenaline. And just a few moments later, the colors begin to fade. I exhale. I look around me and rediscover my surroundings, feeling almost out of breath and with a great sense of accomplishment. That’s when I know it was a good morning.
Thursday, May 14, 2015 (Day 134)
There was a clear, cloudless sky this morning so I decided to frame the glowing horizon with the newly-green leaves of these trees.
This time of year, the sun rises less than a minute earlier each morning, which means my wake time is becoming more stable, as opposed to a few months ago when the sun would rise several minutes earlier each morning. I’ll be getting up only about 20 minutes earlier than today on June 21st (the earliest sunrise of the year), which should be pretty easy to do at this point.

Tuesday, May 12, 2015 (Day 132)
Experimented with some panos this morning.
There was an incredible, dense fog on the surface of the water, and as the sun began to rise there were some bright pink clouds at the north end of the river. It was difficult to capture it all in one frame, so I decided it might be fun to try a few panoramics.
Slowly, more fog crept in and started to envelop the buildings along the water, as you can see in the bottom photo.
These are far from my best photos from a technical standpoint, but it is fun to try new things.
