It’s been a while since we’ve seen a sunrise like this.
Shooting the sunrise every morning is my own meditative experience, and it can be a thrill at the same time. As I see a scene like this beginning to develop, with the clouds starting to glow prior to an upcoming explosion of light, my anticipation builds. And then the moment arrives. The intensity of the colors heighten and my blood begins to rush. I know this is my chance. I hear a rumbling sound in my ears like the sound of a passing freight train, and everything around me disappears. I shoot my photos in a feverish rush of adrenaline. And just a few moments later, the colors begin to fade. I exhale. I look around me and rediscover my surroundings, feeling almost out of breath and with a great sense of accomplishment. That’s when I know it was a good morning.
