Finally, some warm weather. At 74 degrees, it was the first morning since staring this project January 1st that I haven’t had to get all bundled up to go outside. It was incredibly convenient to be able to just roll out of bed, slip on my flip flops, grab my equipment and casually slide out the door without having to change out of the t-shirt and shorts I had just slept in. As a result, I was out the door within a few short minutes of waking up.
There was a steady, cool breeze, which made it a bit chilly outside, but I can’t come complain after coming from the brutally cold weather back home.
I could immediately see the scene beginning to unfold as soon as I walked out the door. A burst of pink light began to emerge near the horizon. The light gradually began to envelop the mostly cloudy sky, until there were speckles of of pink all around me, in every direction, looking like brush strokes on a grand canvas.
I made a number of photographs showcasing a handful off slightly different scenes, all within steps of each other. Some included palm trees, while others did not. In the end, I decided to use this photo for today because the palm trees seemed like the best way to announce my arrival in Florida, and the colors here are very accurate to what it actually looked like as I was standing there. Sunrises like this have been rare back home, so I’m glad to have witnessed this one here in Naples.
