A rainy, icy morning. For a moment, I thought about going outside to try to capture the haze over the city, but I opted to stay home and keep my equipment dry. Snapped this quick sunrise photo with my iPhone.
In a way, I’m glad I kept it simple today. Sometimes I need to remind myself that the whole point of this project is to simply rise before dawn and take a photo, any photo, of the sunrise every morning. Sure, this is a great way to practice and improve my photography, and share my photos here, but let’s not forget the essence of what this is all about. It’s about improving my own life and perhaps hopefully bringing a sense of inspiration to others as well.
Also, these days there are many tools that can be used to capture photos, so I think having a few iPhone photos mixed in with SLR photos helps to add an authentic and perhaps even artistic aspect to this project. I say authentic because it helps create a more complete and realistic depiction of my everyday life. I say artistic because it is making a statement that the act of taking a photo of the sunrise is in some ways more important than the way in which the photo is taken.
